Hi! My name is Amy Epstein and I am a fourth year Dance major in the choreography/performance stream. I am also double majoring in Kinesiology. My pronouns are she/her. I am a commuter from Richmond Hill, Ontario, which is where I grew up. I have danced since I was three years old in competitive studios. I have been in arts programs through middle school and high school. I am very passionate about being involved in school activities. I was a member of the York Lions Dance Energy Competitive Team for my first two years at York and am a currently member of the York Dance Ensemble. I am currently the Vice President of The Dance Students’ Association.
I chose to study at York University because I was able to combine my two passions of dance and anatomy into one degree. My interest began in high school while learning about anatomy and the link between them began immediately in my dance classes. I wanted to learn more and the double major allows me to connect my classroom kinesiology studies with my studio dance work. I love being in the Dance program because of the small program size and community feeling, as well as the fantastic faculty and facilities.
Once I graduate from dance and kinesiology, I aspire to continue dancing and either attend a Master program in education or physiotherapy. I can’t wait to see you all in the hallways and get to know you better! My best advice would be to get involved and to take all the opportunities you can! Your time here will fly by, so make sure to get as much as you can out of it!
