Exchange/Study Abroad

The School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) recognizes the importance of developing a global perspective, and we support our students in their quest to gain international exposure in a world where communication technologies, economic relationships, and the flow of people across national borders increasingly challenge national identities and create transnational cultures.

Exchange

While AMPD students at York have the opportunity for many interactions with students, faculty, and staff from more than 50 countries on campus, they also have the opportunity to earn part of their degree credits abroad through an international exchange.

Our partner institutions include Monash University, Melbourne/Australia; Minzu University of China, Beijing; University of Chichester, University of Leeds, and Northumbria University in the U.K.; Bauhaus-Universitat Weimar and Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Science in Germany; Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem/Israel; University of Sharjah, U.A.E.; and Towson University in Maryland/U.S.A.

AMPD students may also pursue an exchange with other York University partners around the world.

Study Abroad

Summer study abroad courses enable AMPD students to experience the benefits of an exchange without spending a full semester away. These courses take place in foreign locations that enhance student’s understanding through their special connection to the subject matter and the unique learning opportunities they present.

Offered through YorkU Abroad, summer study abroad course do not require special permission, and credits and grades are added directly to your transcript and can count toward your degree.
