AMPD Equity Plan Monthly Update: April 2022

Education

We are pleased to update the EDDI activities in AMPD in the month of April 2022. One of the most significant accomplishments was the participation by administration, faculty members, and staff in trainings by the Kojo Institute. These trainings focused on Foundations of Equity, Responding to Anti-Black Racism, Decolonizing the Department, and Leading for Equity. These training sessions are the next step in building capacity across the School. Training and further education is available through the REDI program in the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion

The Vice-President for Research and Innovation recently launched POLARIS (aka a Place for Online Learning for the Adjudication of Researchers Inclusively and Supportively) is for anyone who is called upon in their job to rank, judge, adjudicate, or provide feedback on researchers and their applications.

All of us are responsible to continue upgrading our own learning, practices, and insights, and for each of us to hold ourselves accountable for creating and supportive environments for everyone in our community. It is essential that we all continue to engage opportunities for learning and capacity building across the School.

Student Supports

The Office for Advising and Integrated Student Services (OAISS) created a new resource toolkit for students with specific supports for Indigenous, Black, and racialized students at https://oaiss.ampd.yorku.ca/support-for-indigneous-black-racialized-students/.

OAISS also created dedicated resources for 2SLGBTIAQ+ students here.

The EDDI Committee of Faculty Council has created a new website with information and as a showcase for student work. Information and updates will continue to circulate via this website.
