4th Year Design Student
Hello, everyone! My name is Javid, although Microsoft Word has been telling me my name has been incorrect for years! I am currently a fourth year student enrolled in the Design program, a joint program with Sheridan College. I was born and raised in Toronto, and lived in the York community my entire life. Often times, I am underestimated, but I am motivated and determined to get things accomplished
The reason I chose my program was because of the unique experience it offered. It offers you the opportunity to see two different campuses and get to connect a multitude of people. I strongly feel that Design has widely known faculty members who are knowledgeable and have real experience in the field. They continuously provide us with the best knowledge possible. Our program has continuously won awards, offers great internships all over the world, all thanks to the time and dedication of our faculty members. My reasoning for choosing the school of Arts, Media, Performance and Design is simply because of the possibility of interdisciplinary studies, which allows you to look at different courses and re-apply it back to design, so we can find new approaches to look at the world.
I love my program because of the people you meet and the friends that you make. Since our program is rather small, we are a tight knit group and the bonding experience is everlasting. Although this may seem very trivial, we are a program that works extremely hard to achieve success, and having people who understand you and are there to help is something that is very rewarding at the end of the day.
Aside from being a Student Ambassador and Mentor, as well as a Design student, I am currently an active member of the Design Students Association. Our goal is to create a more engaging environment for Design students and to promote YSDN altogether.
Upon graduation, I intend to pursue graduate studies with the goal of achieving a Master of Architecture, as well as a Doctorate in Architecture and Design. My dream one day is to start a non-profit organization, which would help underprivileged communities around the world.
Welcome to AMPD and I look forward to connecting!
