4th year Dance

My name is Dakota Stevenson and I am in the Concurrent Education program as well as the BFA in Dance program. I grew up in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and decided to come to York University for the amazing Education program while continuing my studies in dance with York’s talented professors. I love to dance because it allows me to get lost in movement and gives me the opportunity to explore the world around me through both choreography and structure. I have had many amazing opportunities as a student at York University. For example, I had the chance to be a part of the York Dance ensemble. The ensemble performed in many Toronto events as well as collaborating with the entire School in creating the show The Birds. I love to stay involved within AMPD and therefore every year I am a part of the Dance Student Association and Frosh week. These groups allow me to stay connected with my department and give me many networking opportunities as a dance major. My career plans after York University are to take the knowledge I have gained and apply it to teaching abroad, as well as teaching at the high school level within Ontario.
