My name is Vaiva, and I grew up in Toronto loving art and learning. My whole life I have loved to create, and I found visual art to be a perfect outlet for my creative and outgoing personality. I have always had a love for leading and helping others to succeed, so I became a scout leader and now spend my Saturdays and much of my summer working to make sure young girls in the program learn to love helping others and expressing themselves.
I chose to study at York because I love the city too much to leave it, and because of the wonderful Visual Arts and Education programs that it offers. I love being in Visual Arts because of the incredible friendships that I make in my studio classes, the amazing professors who help me to better myself as an artist and a person, and the incomparable studios that I can utilize to explore different mediums and create work that I love. Furthermore, I love being part of the AMPD community because I feel that it is a safe place where I can be myself and be with people who support me through my creative and intellectual endeavors.
After life at York, I hope to become a teacher and teach tomorrow’s generation how to be compassionate, creative and conscious of the world that we live in. Learning is a life long experience, and I look forward to not only teaching, but also learning how to better myself each and every day.
