Professor Ali Kazimi appointed Senior Fellow at University of Toronto's Massey College
University of Toronto's Massey College named its newest Senior Fellow, internationally acclaimed filmmaker and AMPD Cinema and Media Arts Professor Ali Kazimi. With his extensive and decorated academic and professional career, Kazimi will provide close mentorship to the College's Junior Fellows.
Kazimi's work deals with race, social justice migration, history and memory. He is the recipient of the 2019 Governor General’s Award for Visual and Media Arts. His award-winning and critically acclaimed documentaries include Narmada: A Valley Rises (’94), Shooting Indians: A Journey with Jeffrey Thomas (’97), Documenting Dissent (’01), Continuous Journey (’04), Runaway Grooms (’06), Rex versus Singh (’09) and Random Acts of Legacy (’16) .
The fellowship of Massey College Fellows, Quadrangle Society Members, and Alumni are encouraged to continuously address critical issues related to the rapidly changing world, to bring their cross-cultural and cross-generational understanding and ethical leadership to their respective fields and discover solutions to the complex problems facing society today.
