As part of his visit to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Prime Minister Justin Trudeau toured the state-of-the-art Cinespace Film Studios and stopped by the York University Motion Media Studio (YUMMS). During the visit, he met with students from the Cinema and Media Arts department at the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD).
“At AMPD, we are committed to developing the next generation of industry professionals in Canada’s film industry through hands-on learning experiences,” says Sarah Bay-Cheng, Dean of AMPD. “The Prime Minister’s visit offered an unforgettable experience for our students and underscored York University’s leadership in film and media education.”
Prime Minister Trudeau joined the students for a dynamic film pitch workshop led by YUMMS Director and Associate Professor, Ingrid Veninger. During the workshop, students presented their innovative projects and discussed their creative processes with the Prime Minister, showcasing York University’s dedication to nurturing Canada’s future film and media talent.
This visit was a testament to the University's dedication to equipping students with the practical skills and experience needed for successful careers across the on-screen industry.
