Patrick Alcedo recognized with Top 25 Canadian Immigrant award

Chair Patrick Alcedo has been named one of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants of 2022. Alcedo was selected from a list of 75 finalists nominated by the Canadian public for the award that recognizes inspirational immigrants who have positively impacted their communities since arriving in Canada. It is the 14th year for the awards.

Patrick is globally known for his moving blends of dance and cinema. His latest films, A Will To Dream, Am I Being Selfish? and They Call Me Dax, dazzled on international film circuits, bringing home awards like Best Dance Feature Documentary and Best Inspirational Short Documentary at the Silk Road Film Awards.

The three films build on Alcedo’s 20-minute documentary Dancing Manilenyos, which was an official selection at the 2019 Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase and received an Award of Merit from the 2019 Global Shorts Competition and an Award of Recognition from the 2018 Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards.

Most recently,  President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) honoured AMPD Dance Chair Patrick Alcedo with a 2021 Presidential Award for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO). President Roa Duterte bestowed the Pamana Ng Pilipino Award onto Alcedo for his exceptional work in the arts.
