Support for Indigenous, Black, Racialized Students

York University & AMPD is taking active steps to acknowledge, address and support the lived experiences of students who identify as racialized, Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour. Below are a few resources to help support students. This will be updated proactively as more action is undertaken.

  • The Centre for Indigenous Student Services (CISS) strives to create a sense of belonging and to support the academic, spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of a diverse Indigenous student population: aboriginal.info.yorku.ca
  • Black Excellence at York University (BE YU) provides Black students with the supports they need to transition to university and maximize their student experience on the path to graduation: futurestudents.yorku.ca/black-excellence
  • Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHWB) offers resources to cope with race related stress and counselling support group for racialized students: counselling.students.yorku.ca/index.php/group-counselling-schw
  • Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (CHREI) provides Case Resolution Officers if you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance relating to matters impacting your human rights: rights.info.yorku.ca/
  • Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR) provides conflict resolution services for concerns about student behaviour, including informal & formal inquiries regarding the application of the Student Code: oscr.students.yorku.ca/conflict-resolution-services
