Congratulations to Lillian Heinson, AMPD’s Instructional Technology Coordinator!
We would like to congratulate Lillian Heinson (AMPD Computing), the inaugural recipient of the AMPD Award of Excellence in recognition of her contributions to AMPD’s eLearning initiatives.
Lillian joined the AMPD Computing Team in 2010. Over the past five years, Lillian has worked closely with faculty members on the development of 29 online and blended courses, in which more than 15,000 students have enrolled.

“York’s commitment to progressive education is in part addressed by online learning, which supports many learning styles and provides opportunity for experiential learning,” says Tim Hampton, Director of AMPD Computing. “With Lillian’s assistance, online instructors are able to produce material that emphasizes learning by doing, group work, problem solving and critical thinking, and highly personalized learning.”
The result of Lillian’s excellent work can be seen in any number of courses developed across AMPD, many of which have been featured in the annual AMPD eLearning Celebration Day. Professor Michael Longford, the eLearning Lead for AMPD observed that, “through Lillian’s hard work and enthusiasm, and her willingness to experiment and share new ideas, she has been central to the creation of a community of practise made up of students, staff and faculty actively engaged in developing high quality, effective learning environments for blended and online courses. She is a true champion for eLearning in AMPD.”
Congratulations and thank you, Lillian!
