AMPD welcomes six new staff members

Please warmly welcome the newest members of the AMPD team Sukdev Baral, Lois Chan, Julia Kenny, Nicole Lewis, Helen Ogundeji and Kathleen Welsby. From faculty departments to the Office of the Dean, AMPD’s newest team members collectively bring over 60 years of expertise and invaluable experiences to AMPD.

Sukdev Baral

Financial Officer | Office of the Dean

Sukdev Baral comes to AMPD from Harbour Centre’s Finance Department, where he has worked since 2014. With over 18 years of experience in accounting, finance, reporting, data analysis, budgeting, internal audit, and administration, Sukdev brings a breadth and depth of global experiences to AMPD. In his native Nepal, Sukdev worked in the banking sector and taught part-time as a financial management faculty member for two different colleges.

Lois Chan

Receptionist and Office Assistant | Office of the Dean

Lois Chan is a Communication Studies graduate at York University and a current York employee. Coming from the Schulich School of Business, as a Data Base and Room Booking Assistant, among other positions at York, Lois brings five years of experience in York’s central administration and an understanYork’sf York’s systems. 

Julia Kenny

Grad Programs Assistant | Department of Theatre

Familiar with administration in the post-secondary education sector, Julia Kenny most recently worked as a Financial Aid Officer at triOS College and as an Administrative Coordinator for the Canadian Academy of Dental Health and Community Sciences. Julia also has experience with graduate studies, having earned her Masters of Arts in Critical Sociology and Criminal Justice from Brock University in 2019.

Nicole Lewis

Executive Assistant to the Dean | Office of the Dean

Nicole Lewis comes to York University with over 10 years of administrative experience, most recently as the Executive Assistant and Project Manager for the Contrast Results Group. With nine years of academic administrative experience,  she has supported Associate Deans, Academic Faculty and Administrative Supervisors at the College of Medicine, Clinical Simulation Centre, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science from Everglades University and a Master of Science from the California University of Pennsylvania.

Helen Ogundeji

Graduate Program Assistant | Department of Computational Arts

Helen Ogundeji brings over eight years of student and academic affairs experience after spending most of her time at McGill University as a Student Affairs Administrator, Arts Student Advisor, and Student Society Equity Commissioner. Helen most recently served as an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Facilitator with the Inclusive Communities unit at Sheridan College, where she administered a series of focus groups to measure EDI progress across the institution.

Kathleen Welsby

Administrative Assistant | Department of Dance

Many of you will know Kathleen Welsby from the Schulich School of Business, where she has been the Program Coordinator for the MBA with a specialization in Arts, Media and Entertainment Management, as well as the combined MBA/MFA and MBA/MA programs since 1998. Kathleen is a dedicated member of the York University community, demonstrated by her participation on the recent Schulich Decanal Search Committee, as Staff Representative on the Schulich Faculty Council, and as a member University’sersity’s Joint Job Evaluation Committee. Undoubtedly, the Department of Dance and AMPD  will benefit from Kathleen’s years of experience and activity at York University.
