Professor Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory wins prestigious 2021 Sobey Art Award
Professor Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory earns the 2021 Sobey Art Award, one of the world's most valuable prizes for Canadian emerging visual artists, at a ceremony at the National Gallery of Canada. Prof. Williamson Bathory takes home the $100,000 Canadian prize, generously supported by the Sobey Art Foundation.
Exhibit captures dedication of Filipina care workers during COVID-19
Dr. Marissa Largo (Visual Arts & Art History) collaborates across York University to curate a collection of photos by Filipina nurses, personal support workers and in-home caregivers that capture everyday moments of struggle, while caring for the most vulnerable during the pandemic on display at A Space Gallery in downtown Toronto.

Sonia Cara just graduated York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual arts. She has a background in Early Childhood Education, and will be furthering her education at Brock University thiss fall to complete her Bachelor of Education.
