The School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) at York University has recognized Professor Jane Tingley with the AMPD Research Award for 2024-2025.

York University researchers have received $5.7M in funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) Insight Grants competition supporting 34 projects across the university, including four led by AMPD researchers.

York University AMPD researchers will explore new questions, methods and ideas in the social sciences and humanities with more than $1.7 million in federal funding to support early-stage projects over the next two years. 

Five interdisciplinary teams are working to build a more inclusive future, with three AMPD professors focused on accessible workplaces, new ways of connecting through technology and Indigenous virtual learning that supports culture and language.

Professor Jennifer Fisher is an inaugural recipient of the Art Basel Award in the Media & Storytellers category. Presented for the first time this year, the Art Basel Awards celebrate individuals and organizations who are shaping the future of contemporary art.

AMPD Professor Mark-David Hosale is leading a bold interdisciplinary project that’s turning air pollution into something we can see. As principal investigator of 'SensingChange', he’s collaborating with engineers, scientists, and artists across York to develop wearable tech that lights up in response to black carbon emissions.

Over the next six months, these artists will develop new research-creation projects, host public talks and workshops, and engage with students and faculty at AMPD.
