New Sony Scholarship Established at AMPD

A new scholarship has been established at The School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD). The Sony Scholarship supports Black and Indigenous students in the Department of Cinema and Media Arts (CMA), providing $10,000 annually to one undergraduate student for up to four years.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support from the Sony Global Social Justice Fund,” says AMPD Dean Sarah Bay-Cheng. “This scholarship helps reinforce our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and it will make a profound impact on our talented students."

The Sony Global Social Justice Fund is committed to advancing anti-racist initiatives and educational opportunities worldwide. By collaborating with community partners and stakeholders, the fund aims to promote equal rights and support critical issues in areas such as civic community engagement, criminal justice reform, and education.

“Sony is extremely proud to be partnering with The School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design to provide this scholarship to support new talent within the Cinema & Media Arts department. We are very excited to be part of the next generation of creators,” says Mark Saddleton, Country Head and Director of Sales and Marketing, Sony Electronics Inc.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must self-identify as Black and/or Indigenous and demonstrate financial need. Applicants are required to complete the Scholarships and Awards application and meet the criteria set by the Department of Cinema and Media Arts.
