Ian Garrett awarded Developing Strategic Research Frameworks for Sustainability and the Arts Scholarship

AMPD's Ian Garrett, in partnership with Tarah Wright from Dalhousie University, has successfully received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through the No Culture, No Future: Developing Strategic Research Frameworks for Sustainability and the Arts Scholarship.

The grant objectives are to identify Canadian and global scholars, artists and practitioners working in sustainability and the Arts (SATA), examine the challenges and barriers to SATA research in Canada, and collaboratively develop a comprehensive research strategy for SATA scholarship for the future.

Led by Garrett and Wright, the project's dedicated team of academics, artists and practitioners from across Canada will build knowledge and understanding in the field of SATA. The outcome? A more significant dialogue between artists, scholars, decision-makers and practitioners about the role the Arts can play in creating cultural change for a sustainable future.

The multi-year project will start in Fall 2022. Follow the Centre for Sustainable Practice in the Arts to keep up-to-date on the project's latest developments.
