Your on-campus audition will take approximately 20-minutes and will generally include:

  • A performance of your two contrasting pieces.
  • A discussion of your musical knowledge as well as your goals and aspirations.
  • An assessment of your theory and musicianship skills through the identifying of intervals, scales and  chord types, and you may be asked to sing pitches, intervals or scales.
  • Sight reading and additional exercises if further information is needed to make a complete assessment of your abilities and potential.

Show only work which reflects your strengths – both creative and technical. After you upload your portfolio files, add a title to each piece. This will help the reviewer in understanding your portfolio work. Please limit your titles to a maximum of thirty (30) characters.

No more than one Independent Studies course may be taken in any given semester. Applicable supplementary fees are charged for Independent Studies courses in studio areas where such fees are required.

Prerequisites/Restrictions:

  1. Independent Studies applicants must be in their final year of study

To apply for an Independent Study there is a form available at the Department of Visual Arts & Art History reception area which you will need to fill out and have the professor sign.
