Students in the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design must complete six credits from each of the following general education areas:
Humanities: 6.0 credits
Natural Science: 6.0 credits
Social Science: 6.0 credits
Examples of subjects that qualify:
Humanities: Classical studies, English, French, history, humanities, languages, modes of reasoning, philosophy.
Natural Science: Biology, chemistry, earth and atmospheric science, environmental studies (e.g., ES/ENVS 1500 3.00), physics and astronomy, science and technology studies (SC/STS).
Social Science: Anthropology, economics, geography, political science, social science, sociology.
Alternatively, six credits from the FA/XXXX 1900 series of courses outside the major may be used to satisfy the Humanities requirement. All students in an AMPD degree program or an Honours Major/Minor program must complete a number of credits in fine arts but outside their major discipline (which is where the term in/out comes from). For more specific information about degree requirements visit the Academic Calendar from the year you started your degree.
Add – Add a course using Cat#
Exchange – Select a course that you want to drop if the new course you want to add is available. Using this option means if the new course you are trying to add does not go through, you will not be de-enrolled from the course you were about to drop.
Transfer – Used to transfer among various sections/tutorials/labs in the same course.
Students must submit an academic petition to take a course overload. This petition is submitted to the Office of Advising and Integrated Student Services (OAISS) team for review.
