With a focus on creative collaboration, powerful storytelling, and works that speak to today’s world, this program gives you the flexibility to shape your artistic path.
Program Overview
The Theatre - Performance Creation program at York University is designed for highly creative students who want to develop a wide range of artistic skills and explore multiple pathways in theatre and performing arts focused on creating and supporting original work. You’ll be immersed in collaborative creation, learning how ideas move from concept to performance while discovering and strengthening your own artistic voice.
This program centres experiential, studio-based learning and is ideal for students interested in roles across the theatrical creative team, including creator/performers, directors, designers, dramaturgs and playwrights. Courses are offered in devised theatre, storytelling, creative leadership and interdisciplinary performance practices that prepare you for a variety of careers in the theatre and creative industries. Throughout the program, you’ll apply your learning in small ensemble projects, solo creations, and large-scale productions, gaining hands-on experience in every stage of the performance-making process.
