AMPD Theatre Professor Wins Big at the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards
AMPD Theatre Professor Michael Greyeyes brought home the Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role award for his work in Blood Quantum at the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards. In Blood Quantum, Greyeyes takes the lead as Traylor, a Mi'gmaq sheriff trying to keep a zombie apocalypse at bay in Red Crow. An acting lesson in itself, Greyeyes expertly balances the surrealism congenital to zombie movies with the sobering nature of the sociopolitical elements at play.
Success continues to follow Greyeyes. He'll return to his work in the classroom, shaping the next generation of artists with the AMPD Theatre Department while filming the newly renewed NBC comedy hit Rutherford Falls.
Congratulations, Professor Greyeyes!
Blood Quantum Plot Synopsis:
The dead are coming back to life outside the isolated Mi'gmaq reserve of Red Crow, except for its Indigenous inhabitants, who are immune to the zombie plague. Traylor, the tribal sheriff, must protect his son's pregnant girlfriend, apocalyptic refugees, and reserve riff-raff from the hordes of walking white corpses.
The living dead invade the isolated Red Crow reservation belonging to the Mi'gMaq tribe. Only Native people are immune to the zombie plague. Traylor, a hangover local policeman with a rifle, must protect his son's pregnant girlfriend, the left behind and many refugees. They are all threatened by hordes of white corpses infesting the streets of Red Crow.
