Nicolás Pereda
I had several amazing professors at AMPD who completely changed the way I think about cinema. But perhaps the greatest influence came from my peers. It still amazes me how many talented filmmakers I had the chance to go to school with.

Andrea Abello
The Design program at York has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey. The incredible variety of courses spanning both print and digital design, alongside the guidance of dedicated faculty, inspired me to grow as a multidisciplinary designer.

Benjamin Gillespie
What I valued most during my time in York’s undergraduate and graduate Theatre programs was the excellent mentorship I received from faculty who deeply shaped my path as a scholar, and the opportunity to engage with advanced courses in theatre and drama that challenged me to think critically and creatively about the field.
Benjamin Gillespie, PhD (BA ’09, MA ’10)
Assistant Professor of Theatre History and Performance Studies

Madeleine Sims-Fewer
The people we met that have since become collaborators is undoubtedly the most valuable thing. We met our Director of Photography at AMPD, and he has shot every one of our films since we began working together. As a young filmmaker, I had no idea what my voice was or what I had to say that was at all interesting or unique. Professor John Greyson was instrumental in guiding me towards finding the stories inside me and exploring what I had that was distinctive.
Madeleine Sims-Fewer (BFA ’08)
Actor, Director and Screenwriter. Several films shown at TIFF, including a feature film in 2025, following recognition at festivals such as Sundance and Berlinale.
Ori Dagan
All these years later – in addition to singing and recording – I am still producing concerts, showcases and festivals, and all because of York, which truly did inspire me to redefine the possible.

Asha James
At AMPD, I learned how essential it is to stay organized, manage my time and approach each project with a clear method for breaking down a script. Acting taught me the importance of storytelling and understanding an audience.
Asha James (BFA Theatre, ’18)
Dora Award winning actor
Boris Licina
At AMPD, I gained practical skills, fresh creative tools and the confidence to tell stories across different formats, which now shape the work I do. Aside from my desire to tell my stories, I was drawn to the program because of its small class sizes and the hands-on approach. I loved the idea of seeing my work evolve from script to screen and being part of that entire creative process.
Boris Licina (BFA ’25)
Creative Producer and Screenwriter
Aurora Matrix
My time at York taught me so much about working in the industry, not only as an actor, but as a well-rounded artist. Stepping into my professional career now, I often find myself going back to the basics I learned when starting new projects. Having the opportunity to work with and learn from professionals in their specialized fields allowed me to experience first-hand what goes into the creative process.
Aurora Matrix (BFA ’21)

Angelina (Gulla) De Paola
Studying in AMPD's Music program deepened my passion for music and provided me with skills that I continue to use in both performance and life. One of my most cherished memories is Tuesday nights with the Gospel Choir, where I made lifelong friends who I now consider family.
