York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) is once again making its mark on Canada’s biggest night in music. The 2025 Juno Award nominations have been announced, and several outstanding AMPD faculty and alumni have been recognized across multiple genres.
Toronto Mass Choir, Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year

The Toronto Mass Choir (TMC), under the artistic direction of AMPD Professor Karen Burke, has been nominated for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for their album Hymns Alive (Live).
"This nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every choir member, and it fuels our passion to continue making music that uplifts and inspires,” says Burke.
Other TMC alumni and faculty members include Jenna Cowans (BFA Music '09), Christoph Ibrahim (BFA Theatre '11), Kemon Emmanuel (BFA Music), William Kim (BFA Music) and Nicole Sinclair-Anderson (Part-time Music Instructor at AMPD).
Sue Foley, Blues Album of the Year

Blues powerhouse and AMPD alum Sue Foley (MA ’15) has earned a nomination for Blues Album of the Year with One Guitar Woman. Known for her fiery guitar skills and deep-rooted connection to traditional blues, Foley remains a defining force in the genre.
Andy Milne and Unison, Jazz Album of the Year: Group

AMPD alum Andy Milne (BFA ’90) and his ensemble Unison have been nominated for Jazz Album of the Year: Group for their record Time Will Tell. A prolific pianist and composer, Milne is known for his genre-defying work in jazz and contemporary music.
Jeremy Ledbetter Trio, Jazz Album of the Year: Group

Also nominated in the Jazz Album of the Year: Group category is Jeremy Ledbetter Trio, featuring alum Jeremy Ledbetter (BFA ’02). Their album Gravity showcases his dynamic fusion of jazz, world music, and classical influences.
Carn Davidson 9, Jazz Album of the Year: Group

Another Jazz category nominee is Carn Davidson 9, co-led by AMPD faculty members Tara Davidson, Kelly Jefferson and Kevin Turcotte, whose album Reverence has also been nominated for Jazz Album of the Year: Group. Their nine-piece ensemble is celebrated for its innovative arrangements and rich, layered sound.
