AMPD Celebrates alumni and faculty nominations for the 2024 Galeries Ontario Galleries (GOG) Awards

Three members of York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) community—two alumni from the Graduate Program in Art History and Visual Culture (AHVC) and a faculty member—have been honored as nominees for the distinguished 2024 Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries (GOG) Awards.

  • Jennifer Matotek, an alumna of the Art History and Visual Culture Master's program with a Curatorial Studies Diploma, is nominated for Exhibition of the Year (over $50,000) for Pleasure Ground: A Feminist Take on the Natural World at the Art Windsor-Essex Gallery.
  • Melissa Bennett, another Art History and Visual Culture graduate with a Curatorial Studies Diploma, is also nominated in the Exhibition of the Year category (budget over $50,000) for Shelley Niro: 500 Year Itch at the Art Gallery of Hamilton.
  • Professor Marissa Largo, a faculty member in the Visual Art and Art History program, has earned a nomination for Exhibition Under $20,000 Monographic for Sila/Siya/Ako at A Space Gallery in Toronto.

These nominations underscore the impact of AMPD’s community in shaping Canada’s art landscape. Congratulations to Jennifer, Melissa and Professor Largo for this exceptional recognition of their work!
