Hi I am Valeriy Kostyuk, I am a 4th year Theatre Production and Design student. A significant amount of my childhood was spent in Odessa, Ukraine where I was exposed to the art of theatre for the first time. At the age of 10, I moved to Richmond Hill where I reside up to this day.
I chose to study at York University because of its renowned theatre program. Here at York we have access to great facilities, in which we are taught by theatre practitioners whose achievements are very well known in the theatre world. While pursuing my studies here I had an opportunity to work with a renowned comic company Maski from Odessa, Ukraine. In August 2016, I was one of the organizers of the first festival of the redheads in “Odessa Ginger City”. In July 2017, I was the coordinator for the international jury of the International Circus Festival: Golden Trick of Kobzov.
After completing my studies at York I intend on continue working in Theatre and Art administration. I believe art has a huge impact on the society, and I believe theatre to be one of the most influential forms of art in which we experience. Theatre is where the most ordinary of things come together and create something truly wonderful.
