Peter Widdrington

Hey everyone, my name’s Peter and I’m a fourth year film production student from Toronto.  I got exposed to film at a very young age, and by the time I was in middle school, knew I wanted to be a filmmaker.  I started making films with my friends for a film class in high school and continued to make films in my spare time outside of school.  I came to York as a Cinema and Media Studies student, but transferred to the Production program after my second year.  I chose the film program at York because I liked how involved you were able to get with the productions, and the versatility you had with making your films.  I have made some of the most amazing friendships and working relations through the film department at York, and have been lucky enough to work on some beautiful films.  After University, I plan on continuing my career as a filmmaker making short films, and commercials.

I frequent the screenings put on by the Film Students Association (FSA), which are hosted on a bi-weekly basis, and are a great way to meet other film lovers in the program.  I also work on many of my classmates films, getting experience in all areas of production.  York has not only given me opportunities in film, but has allowed me to gain experience as a Student Ambassador & Mentor (SAM), while making friendships with people from every department in AMPD in the process.
