Hi, my name is Kimberly Davis. I’m a third-year student in the Digital Media program. I was born in Jamaica and spent the first nine years of my life there until later moving to Canada. I have been interested in computers since I was seven years old and when I was in high school I took every computer and design course my school had to offer. However even though I knew a lot about computers, programming was not one of them and because of that my first year at York was not easy. It took a while for me to get used to all the new programming languages I had to learn. However eventually I was able to get used to it and now it’s something I love doing.
I chose to study at York University because York offers so many great programs including the Digital Media program which really lets me express my passion for both computers and design. Since I’ve been in the program I’ve been able to learn new things and meet so many new people who share the same interests in computers as I do. The Digital Media program also allows me to be able to work on collaboration projects with students in other programs at York and other universities. As well as being able to be a part of showcases and exhibitions where I get the chance to display my work. The opportunities that I’ve had from being a student at York and in AMPD have been great and with so many options of what I can do after graduating, it’s hard to just pick one. I can see myself being a Computer Programmer, Digital Media Specialist, Graphic Designer, Product Designer and so much more.
