Raymond Wan

3rd Year Digital Media Student

Hey! My name is Raymond and I am a 3rd year Digital Media student. I live, breathe and play soccer, and you can also find me wandering Winters College. I was born and raised in Scarborough with three sisters; two of whom are triplets including myself. Throughout my life I have always been a shy individual, often afraid of being judged. However since being a part of the York, AMPD and Winters communities, I now feel I am truly allowed to be who I am in a positive and accepting environment.

I chose to study Digital Media at York because of the diverse and unique opportunities that it offers. This is because it is the only university to offer such a program and also because it is a joint program between the Lassonde School of Engineering and the AMPD. However, one of the major reasons I had chosen to study Digital Media was because I wanted to create computational art: art that can inspire and evoke emotions with the use of technology, creating a unique connection between the artist and spectators.

I’m very involved within the Winters Community, having the awesome opportunity to be a Frosh Boss last year and being an active part of intramural sports. I am also a part of the Digital Media Students Association (DMSA).

I study Digital Media because of the many opportunities for myself to be innovative, creative and inspirational.
