Campus Life

At York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, you are part of a vibrant community of more than 53,000 local and international students who are pursuing a broad range of studies and creative practice across the arts, health, science, engineering, environmental studies, law, education, business and the liberal arts.

CASA

CASA.The Creative Arts Student Association (CASA) is the student government in AMPD. It’s an inclusive, dynamic organization run entirely by AMPD students, with representatives from the student association of each AMPD department: cinema and media arts, dance, design, computational arts, music, theatre and visual art/art history. CASA represents student interests to the administration and builds community between AMPD students. It generates programming, activities and informal networking opportunities, from weeky coffee houses to the annual iMix Festival, and supports and encourages student initiatives through advocacy, publicity, and a grants program for extracurricular creative projects. Connect with the friendly CASA folks in Room 164A Joan and Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts (off the main lobby) or casa.yorku@gmail.com or on social media.

Winters College

The complexities of life in a large university are simplified by York’s college system. Serving both residential and commuter students, York’s seven undergraduate colleges provide a congenial home base where students can relax after class, meet with friends, etc.

Winters College is the college most closely affiliated with AMPD. A friendly community of students, professors, college Fellows and administrative support staff, Winters provides both residence and commuter students with a ‘home away from home’ and a safe, comfortable, supportive and culturally rich environment.

York Federation of Students

The York Student Federation (YFS) offers many services that can make an academic life easier, a social life more sociable, and a political life more active. The YFS General Office is located in Room 336 in the Student Centre. The office is where members are able to make general inquires, speak with executive members, or speak to a student advocate on academic appeals.
